Welcome to one of the country’s oldest and most established Emergency Medicine Residency programs in the country.

An education as diverse as your city.

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is the city’s largest and most diverse university, engaging citizens from its surrounding neighborhoods and communities that comprise the state we serve. Our residency program reflects those attributes and presents a unique educational model. Residents rotate between four primary and two ancillary hospitals that serve as sites for additional electives. Each hospital site carries a specific mission and serves a distinct patient population. This integrated composite gives our residents the optimal circumstances to gain a wide range of clinical and social experiences integral to training emergency medicine physicians.
