About

Dr. Shana Nelson Ross is an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine whose work focuses on simulation-based training, residency curriculum development, and physician wellness. She serves as Associate Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, Director of Simulation, Director of Residency Education and Conferences, and Director of Academic Programs in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. In these roles, she leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of experiential learning across UIC’s four-hospital training consortium. Her academic interests include high-fidelity simulation, critical care procedural training, and strategies to support physician well-being and professional development.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Ross is actively engaged in community service. She serves as a legacy advisor and events facilitator for Women in Emergency Medicine All-Chicago and mentors pre-medical students, medical students, and residents at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine, fostering the next generation of physicians and leaders in emergency medicine.
