UI Health

UI Health, the University of Illinois Chicago’s primary academic medical center, is a leading quaternary care institution comprising a 462-bed hospital, 26 outpatient clinics, and 14 Federally Qualified Health Centers. Recognized nationally for its excellence in transplant and sickle cell care, UI Health is powered by a diverse, research-driven faculty committed to advancing clinical innovation and health equity.

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (IMMC)

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (IMMC) is a 551-bed teaching and referral hospital located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. As part of Advocate Health—the largest health system in Illinois and one of the largest nonprofit integrated systems in the U.S.—IMMC is recognized for clinical excellence and community-focused care. It holds top-tier designations, including Level I Trauma Center status, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) certification.

The Emergency Department manages approximately 45,000 visits per year, delivering comprehensive urban emergency care and serving as one of Chicago’s four EMS base stations and a lead disaster hospital. IMMC is also a vital healthcare provider for the LGBTQ+ community, located in the heart of Boystown. It made history as the first hospital in Chicago to open a dedicated HIV/AIDS unit during the height of the AIDS epidemic in the 1990s—a legacy that continues in its culturally competent and inclusive care practices.

The Emergency Department also includes a 24-hour psychiatric crisis unit, where licensed social workers and mental health professionals provide immediate, high-quality care for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies.

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is a leading teaching, research, and tertiary care center located in Park Ridge, Illinois. With 645 beds, it ranks among the largest hospitals in the Chicago metropolitan area and serves as a designated Level I Trauma Center. A fixture in the region since 1897, Lutheran General has trained Emergency Medicine residents for over three decades and was named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades in 2025.

The hospital is also home to Advocate Children’s Hospital—one of Illinois’ most comprehensive pediatric care providers and the only children’s hospital serving Chicago’s north and northwest suburbs. A regional referral center for complex and chronic pediatric conditions, it features a 19-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a 54-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a Pediatric Emergency Department staffed 24/7 by fellowship-trained Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians.

Lutheran General’s Emergency Department is anchored by a stable and experienced faculty of over 25 Board-Certified Emergency Physicians. The department provides high-acuity care in a medically diverse setting, with frequent cases of ischemic heart disease, non-penetrating trauma, and sepsis. The hospital is nationally recognized for its excellence in time-sensitive interventions, including STEMI and stroke care, and offers an exceptional environment for training the next generation of emergency physicians.

OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center

OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center, located in Evergreen Park, Illinois, is a community hospital with a longstanding tradition of serving Chicago’s southwest side. Established in 1930 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, the hospital joined OSF HealthCare in 2020, enhancing its commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

In 2023, the hospital’s Emergency Department managed 42,991 visits, reflecting its pivotal role in addressing the urgent healthcare needs of a diverse patient population. The ED provides comprehensive emergency services, supported by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.
