PREREQUISITES AND PLACEMENT IN THE CURRICULUM:
Prior Neurology clerkship required.
PURPOSE:
The objective of this program is to give the student advanced clinical experience in neurology beyond the required specialty rotation.
COMPETENCIES:
Advanced neurologic diagnosis and management with clinical-anatomic-radiologic correlation.
INSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES:
The student will participate in the care of neurology patients on the neurology inpatient service, consult service or outpatient clinics at UICMC or JBVA. The location for the clerkship is largely based on site availability. Students will have the responsibility of taking the history, doing the neurological examination, and participating in the plan for care along with the resident and attending.
ASSESSMENT:
Evaluation by the resident and faculty who supervised the student.

Outpatient: To be arranged by PD, minimum 1 week outpatient
Inpatient: To be arranged by PD, minimum 3 weeks inpatient
Total Hours /Week: approximately 40
Paperwork for this rotation needs to be submitted 6 weeks in advance of the start date.
