COMIR (College of Medicine Informational Resources) provides top-tier technology solutions and support to our administration, students, staff, and faculty within the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. We offer helpdesk, desktop support, manage instructional technology, servers, software, application development, and security services for College of Medicine students, staff, and faculty. COMIR represents College of Medicine IT interests at the University and University System levels. We also extend our support to other College of Medicine Departments via a Shared Support model,
Our Information and Technology unit, located within the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, is integral to the university's academic operations and mission. Our comprehensive IT support includes file server management, desktop assistance, connectivity solutions, security, software support, instructional technology, and portable device assistance, ensuring seamless digital infrastructure for uninterrupted academic activities. We are committed to providing readily available shared IT support to all units associated with the College of Medicine. Desktop Support
Our team provides services and support to College of Medicine Chicago campus medical students, COM Dean’s office and units and contracted COM departments.
We provide repair, troubleshooting and warranty support for supported computers, printers, monitors and general IT related accessories.

Instructional Media Support
COMIR Classroom Technology/COMIR-AV team provides Echo360 recording scheduling, maintain video conferencing equipment in College of Medicine rooms, and provide training and support for successful use of those rooms.
Classroom Technology: The college of medicine provides classrooms and conference rooms to students, staff and faculty. Room reservations are done in Astra and are managed by facilities and space planning office.

Equipment/Room Orientation (A/V support): COMIR-AV Instructional Media/Classroom Technology team offers walkthroughs in advance of any particular event in order to help people run their class, meeting, or event smoothly.

Infrastructure
The College of Medicine at Chicago has a professionally managed secure data room, intended to house data and servers that handle high risk information in the College of Medicine. Subject to availability, these services can be provided by COMIR to College of Medicine units on a cost recovery basis.

IT Security and Access Requests
IT Security is a service that controls access and modification of sensitive or confidential data to authorized people.
It ensures that data is available to the people who should have access, data is not available to people who should not have access, and data isn’t incorrectly modified or destroyed.Select this option to:
- request Banner access for an employee
- request EDW access for an employee
- request Chrome River access for an employee
- request FABweb / Biennial Inventory access for an employee
- request UIH access for faculty/staff (for UIH access for students, contact the Office of the Registrar)
- request other security-related actions
- report security incidents.
