PREREQUISITES AND PLACEMENT IN THE CURRICULUM:
Must have completed the M3 Internal Medicine Clerkship.
PURPOSE:
This elective in nephrology allows the student to choose a rotation at University Hospital or JBVA for a four-week period where the students will actively participate in consult rounds. In this setting, they see a variety of renal problems and learn the differential diagnosis of renal disease and the indications for dialysis.
INSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES:
Students will attend nephrology weekly conferences, which include biopsy conference, journal club, grand rounds, clinical conferences, and talks by the nephrology faculty specifically for medical students. Students will also have the opportunity to attend nephrology clinic.
