Intro
PURPOSE:
The program focuses on the care of pediatric and adults with congenital and acquired craniofacial conditions. Emphasis is on the interdisciplinary team approach for the evaluation and treatment of these patients. The student will work under the tutelage of the center’s former director and will interact with team members representing medical and dental specialties and allied health professions. (pediatrics, plastic/craniofacial surgery, prosthodontics, nursing, speech pathology, audiology, genetics counseling, anaplastology, orthodontics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, psychology)
INSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES:
The student will observe and assist in the evaluation of patients; both those being planned for care and for patients already undergoing treatment. The program includes clinical care, operating room experience and will be augmented with seminars in plastic surgery and other specialties related to patient care in The Craniofacial Center.
Pediatrics E&M Conference:
This is an educational enhancement specifically designed for the M4 student in Pediatrics – a case-based learning session designed to focus on issues that you likely will face as residents. All students in pediatrics elective will gather at 8am every Thursday of their rotation in 1208 CSB (12th floor conference room).
