Innovation Medicine Program (IMED)

What is IMED?

The mission of IMED seeks to create physician-innovators who draw from their experience to identify clinical needs and develop novel solutions. The program provides interdisciplinary education to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and processes necessary to progress from problem identification to viable product.

The Innovation in Medicine Program provides a systematic approach to innovation in clinical practice, through co-curricular and interdisciplinary activities related to medical product design. IMED augments the existing curriculum of the College of Medicine.

The IMED Program provides opportunities that prepare physicians to be the innovators of the future solving fundamental healthcare problems and taking their solutions into the real world. IMED physicians trained in the process of innovating solutions to problems encountered in the clinical environment will have an education in how a need can be identified, addressed, and translated to a commercial product solution.

The IMED Program seeks to develop interdisciplinary innovators who draw from advances in technology and clinical expertise to solve real-world problems.

Twelve incoming medical students with an interest in the intersection of technology and medicine are accepted each year.
