Research
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy has a very active portfolio of research projects, funded by funders including the National Institutes of Health, PCORI, AHA, RHA, and various other private foundations or pharmaceutical companies.

Patient Care
Our pulmonary and allergy physicians see clinic patients in the Center for Lung Health, located in room 3C in the UI Health Outpatient Care Center (OCC), which is at 1801 W Taylor. The UI Health Sleep Science Center, located at 2242 W Harrison, is the home to our comprehensive sleep program. Sleep clinic patients are seen here during the day, and sleep studies are conducted here in the evenings, making for a convenient one-stop location for all our sleep patient.

Interventional Pulmonology
This service treats patients that have both benign and malignant non-cardiac diseases of the chest. This multidisciplinary team focuses on obtaining a diagnosis and treatment plan in the most efficient, rapid and least invasive manner.

Asthma
The main goals of the UI Health Asthma Clinic are to improve the health of adults with asthma by focusing on patient education, patient-centered asthma management to provide personalized and specialized care, and engaging in research that will improve the care of asthma. The Asthma Clinic partners with many different disciplines including specialists (Allergy, ENT, Pulmonary), primary care and emergency room providers, nurses and pharmacists to diagnose and treat asthma and individualize comprehensive asthma care.

Lung Cancer
A multidisciplinary program examining the use of computerized tomography (CT) in the early detection, follow-up, and treatment of patients with lung nodules.

Sleep Disorder
The Sleep Science Center utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach, providing a comprehensive continuum of care from diagnosis, individual treatment plans and education. Sleep is essential for a person’s health and well-being, yet millions of people do not get enough sleep and many suffer from lack of sleep. Surveys suggest 50-70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders, and 60% of adults report having sleep problems a few nights a week or more. Most of these problems go undiagnosed and untreated.

Sarcoidosis
The Bernie Mac Sarcoidosis Translational Advanced Research (STAR) Center at UI Health is committed to provide patients with outstanding care and to evaluate patients in a timely, compassionate and courteous manner. We provide comprehensive care for patients with all forms of sarcoidosis.
