The Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago offers residency, fellowship, and international programs.
The Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago has a long tradition of providing thorough and comprehensive training in Medicine. Our goal is to prepare future internists and specialists for a wide range of career paths, including careers in academic medicine, primary care and subspecialty clinical practice. We do so with an eye toward the changing health care environment and the increasing demands upon physicians to be both evidence-based and humanistic in their approach to clinical decision-making. Our faculty of 210 is dedicated to training the best and the brightest.
The University of Illinois department of medicine sponsors over 50 ACGME Accredited Residency Programs with a fully staffed Graduate Medical Education office to assist in the administration of its programs. We train approximately 140 internal medicine residents yearly.
The department of medicine offers ACGME-accredited clinical fellowship programs. Approximately 75 fellows conduct their fellowship training program at UIC Chicago. We invite you to learn more about our programs by division.
Our division of infectious diseases offers training in the Dominican Republic and India to expose UIC trainees to the practice of medicine in a developing country and provide them with clinical experience in tropical medicine.
