Israel Rubinstein, MD LAB

Bio

I am a clinician-scientist and Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (JBVAMC). My interdisciplinary, collaborative pre-clinical research interests center around development of novel countermeasures to combat the detrimental host inflammatory response to environmental toxicants, including but not limited to, novel, biocompatible and biodegradable lipid-based nanomedicines, lipid emulsions, and nonabsorbable resins and polymers. My interdisciplinary, collaborative clinical research endeavors focus on promoting the health and well-being of Veterans with advanced COPD, lung cancer, and COVID-19. To that end, I established and oversee the fully-staffed Clinical Trials Unit at JBVAMC. In addition, I am a member of the ongoing IRB-approved JBVAMC COVID- 19 Registry. Lastly, my research programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Veterans Affairs, and National Institutes of Health.
