Diabetes & Obesity Research Day

The 13th annual University of Illinois Chicago Diabetes and Obesity Research Day will take place on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025 in person and online. Registration (see link) is required for online access.

The focus of this year’s meeting is on “Lifestyle Medicine”. Invited speakers will address new guidelines and criteria for the diagnosis and treatment of obesity, strategies to integrate medical and behavioral approaches to management, nutritional strategies to reduce cardiometabolic risk, including plant-based diets, and research addressing community-based, behavioral and technology-assisted approaches to optimizing metabolic health in pediatric and adult subjects.

Abstracts for poster presentations targeting any area of diabetes and/or obesity research by emerging and established investigators, students and trainees are strongly encouraged and awards will be given for outstanding poster presentations.  To be considered for an oral presentation, abstracts should be submitted by midnight, October 8 for full consideration for poster awards (see link for instructions).
