The 12th UIC Annual Diabetes and Obesity Research Day

Tuesday, October 8, 2024 - Live & Online

Diabetes & Obesity Research Day

The 12th annual University of Illinois Chicago Diabetes and Obesity Research Day will take place on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024. The focus of this year’s meeting is “Obesity, Diabetes, and the Brain”.  Increasing evidence indicates that the brain plays a central role in the pathogenesis of both obesity and diabetes. Leading investigators will discuss the role of circulating factors like leptin, GLP-1, and insulin, as well as fuels and metabolites, neuroinflammation, gut-brain communication, diurnal rhythms, and sleep. The event will also feature short talks highlighting recent findings. The proceedings will take place LIVE (Moss Auditorium, 909 South Wolcott, Chicago), and will also be available for viewing ONLINE.

Students, trainees, and both emerging and established investigators are invited to present their work in a live poster session. We welcome presentations on basic, translational, clinical, behavioral, and community-based diabetes and obesity research.  Awards for outstanding posters will be announced at the end of the meeting. (Presenters are encouraged to submit abstracts of their work by MN, Sunday, Sept 29).
