The UIC Nephrology Fellowship is a two year program with an optional third year focusing on research. Fellows spend the first year of training in the outpatient and inpatient nephrology care services where they assume primary responsibilities as consultants. The inpatient and ambulatory experiences provide extensive exposure to a wide range of pathology in three different health care systems (University of Illinois Hospital, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County).
The primary goal of the UIC Nephrology Fellowship is to ensure that trainees acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed for the practice of nephrology. The curriculum is designed to ensure progressive levels of responsibility, and has the flexibility and depth to ensure optimal training for both community and academic settings.
