The Division of Nephrology is committed to excellence in the areas of patient care, teaching, and research. We are actively engaged in the training of nephrology fellows as well as the education of medical students, residents, and physicians within the community.
The Division of Nephrology offers oppurtunities for trainees to be involved in ongoing research as well as with smaller and short term projects in both basic science and patient-oriented disciplines. Basic science research opportunities are available in different investigators’ laboratories addressing a variety of interests related to cell biology, acute renal failure, autoimmunity, and acid-base physiology and pathophysiology.
The Division of Nephrology at UI Health treats patients with conditions and diseases of the kidney, including end-stage renal disease (ESRD), kidney transplantation, acute kidney failure, kidney stones, and immunological kidney diseases at the University of Illinois Outpatient Care Center. Our kidney transplant outcomes are among the best in Chicago. The Division of Nephrology has grown out of a long history of excellence in the field of kidney treatment and research.
Our Clinical Programs
The primary goal of the nephrology training program is to ensure that trainees acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills that characterize the practice of nephrology and that will enable them to contribute maximally to improving the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities they serve.
