Mission
The Division of Nephrology is committed to excellence in the areas of patient care, teaching, and research. We are committed to providing high-quality, culturally competent, patient-centered care for adults with kidney disease, in a learning environment that prioritizes evidence-based approaches, diversity and inclusion.
Research
The Division of Nephrology offers oppurtunities for trainees to be involved in ongoing research as well as with smaller and short term projects in both basic science and patient-oriented disciplines. Basic science research opportunities are available in different investigators’ laboratories addressing a variety of interests related to cell biology, acute renal failure, autoimmunity, and acid-base physiology and pathophysiology.

The Division of Nephrology at UI Health treats patients with conditions and diseases of the kidney, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, glomerular disease, kidney stones, and end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis or kidney transplantation. Our kidney transplant outcomes are among the best in Chicago. The Division of Nephrology has a rich history of excellence in the field of kidney disease treatment and research.
