Personal and professional wellness
During your pediatric residency at UIC we strive to prioritize personal and professional wellness in addition to our goal of training well rounded pediatricians. We have implemented a variety of initiatives and continue to expand our experiences to meet the changing needs of our residents each year.
During orientation all interns are scheduled for an opt-out meeting with a University Health Services social worker. This provides an introduction to the services that are offered at UIC.
In addition to thoughtful opportunities for leave and time off, wellness in the residency program includes yearly retreats for all residents and Surprise Night, when faculty cover for residents to attend an evening event.
The Wellness Committee is made up of resident members in conjunction with the chief residents. They meet monthly to identify wellness needs and initiatives.
