    Emergency Medicine Residency

Our three-year Emergency Medicine (EM) and five-year combined Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine (EM/IM) residency programs offer comprehensive training. These programs equip residents with the clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and hands-on experience to deliver high-quality patient care in various challenging environments.
  • Medical Student Training

    Medical Students

Elective options and a four-week clerkship for fourth-year medical students.

  • Fellowship Programs

    Fellowship Programs

Offer advanced training in social/global, ultrasound, toxicology, and advanced resuscitation in emergency medicine, preparing physicians with the specialized skills to treat complex medical emergencies confidently and precisely. They provide an in-depth opportunity to expand your expertise and lead in these areas of emergency care.

Collectively, our four-site EDs — UI Health, Advocate Illinois Masonic, Advocate Lutheran General, and Advocate Christ Medical Center – Little Company of Mary — see 205,000 patients annually. Residents and rotating students will have the opportunity to rotate through each of these sites and gain hands-on experience with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, trauma cases, and patient care, including pediatrics, while performing various procedures across diverse patient populations. EM/IM residents will also rotate at the Jesse Brown VA, and all residents and students will utilize the Simulation and Integrative Learning Institute (SAIL), located in Mile Square Health Center.
