IL Heart Rescue Texting Platform

Public health initiatives to improve bystander CPR and knowledge about time-sensitive health conditions are further needed in neighborhoods that have a greater incidence of cardiac arrest. Therefore, by employing a low-cost, easily accessible tool such as text messaging, we could improve health beliefs and increase knowledge about time-sensitive health conditions, including cardiac arrest, stroke, and other catastrophic cardiovascular diseases. Illinois Heart Rescue’s most recent Texting Initiative allows participants to sign up and receive 2-3 text messages per week for a duration of three months. The text messages will cover topics such as bystander CPR, hypertension, stroke, and other healthy lifestyle tips to make a real difference in our community.
