RESEARCH MISSION and VISION

Our mission is to develop and advance funded clinical and translational research within the Department of Emergency Medicine with a focus on scholarship, innovation and collaboration among all faculty, staff, trainees, and nursing.

Our vision is to be recognized as leaders in Emergency Medicine by building a research division of excellence with funded investigators, connected by a shared goal of advancing emergency care research, transforming patient care, and educating the next generation of clinician-scientists.

AREAS of FOCUS

We have identified four broad areas, some of which overlap, where our immediate community faces serious challenges. These categories only cover some research projects we undertake and need our sustained attention the most.

  • Social Emergency Medicine/Health Equity
  • Digital Health/Bioinformatics
  • Quality Improvement
  • Current Clinical Domains: hypertension, cardiac arrest, HIV, diabetes, HCV, ultrasound, sickle cell, cancer, healthcare worker wellness, COVID-19, chest pain, substance use disorder, toxicology, global emergency medicine.
