Our mission is to enhance global health by conducting collaborative, multidisciplinary research, fostering community participation, and strengthening the capacities of our global partners to transform health systems. Rooted in the values of respect, partnership, collaboration, innovation, community, and reciprocity, we aim to promote health equity in the field of global health.

Our purpose is to position the UI College of Medicine (UI COM) as a national leader in global health. We achieve this through building and expanding global health research, enhancing medical and graduate global health education and training, fostering a network of global and local partnerships, and advocating for the visibility and sustainability of global medicine to nurture the next generation of global health leaders. Our goals encompass conducting innovative, culturally responsive research that addresses evolving global health challenges, becoming a leader in global health education, building connections with a global network of partners, and advancing the profile of global medicine. Engaging in global health not only offers leadership opportunities but also provides our students and trainees with invaluable multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives, enriching the educational experience for all.
