Plastic Surgery Residency
Our Mission
The Division of Plastic, Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery mission is to provide the highest possible level, state-of-the-art, compassionate, and respectful care to all our patients and to maintain the appropriate intellectual environment to foster and promote education and research.
The UIC Plastic Surgery Residency mission is to provide our residents with extensive clinical and theoretical knowledge to train them to be competent, skilled surgeons capable of the independent practice of plastic surgery with the highest ethical, social, and professional standards and to compete successfully in today’s demanding markets, whether in private practice, public service or academic medicine.
Our Missions align with the University of Illinois Chicago’s College of Medicine.
Application Process
The successful applicant must demonstrate strong academic and clinical performance in medical school. A completed research project that has led to a podium presentation or published paper is required. Letters of recommendation must indicate excellent communication skills with patients and teamwork skills with colleagues. We look for evidence of impeccable work ethic and resilience.
The applicant must have successfully completed a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from a US medical school or hold an equivalent degree and ECFMG certificate from other Faculties of Medicine prior to starting the residency on July 1 of the match year.
The Division of Plastic Surgery fully supports the mission of UI College of Medicine and UIHealth in recruitment and retention of a workforce that reflects the community we serve in Chicago and Illinois.
- Applications are accepted through ERAS.
- Matching is completed through the National Residency Matching Program (“The Match”, NRMP)
- Typically, 30-35 individuals are interviewed from the candidate pool for our two positions per year.
