Philomena Okonkwo is a pediatric sickle cell Nurse Practitioner in the department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at UI Health. She graduated with MSN and FNP from Governor's State University in 2021. She has been in UI health since 2018 but joined the sickle cell team a year ago. Philomena is committed to the care of pediatric sickle cell patients and patients with classical hematological disorders. Philomena's research interests includes research to improve the care and treatment of Sickle cell disease, Anemia and Adolescent transition. Her clinical interests involves Pediatrics, Sickle Cell, Anemias, Adolescent Transition and Care coordination. She also has interests in quality improvements, clinical trials, STEM education for High School Students, and Interprofessional team care. She provides services at management of pediatric sickle cell and classical hematology, Health education Adolescent transition.
