Ophthalmic Clinical Trials and Translational Center
Introduction
The UIC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences established the Ophthalmic Clinical Trials and Translational Center (OCTTC) to provide services in clinical trials and translational studies that evaluate preventive, therapeutic, and diagnostic interventions in ophthalmic diseases. Located on the second floor of the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary’s administrative offices, the center acts as a liaison between principal investigators and sponsors.

- IRB preparation and submission
- Investigator meeting representation
- Site initiation visit
- Training for all support staff
- Patient identification and recruitment strategies
Services part 2
- Patient screening and ongoing clinical trial visit coordination
- Sponsor conference calls and monitor visit representation
- Laboratory specimen collection and shipping
- Study exam procedures
- Ongoing guidance for all UIC PIs
- Patient randomization procedures
- eCRF maintenance
- Study closeout procedures
