Personal statement by Dr. Jain:
“Ever since I first began my medical studies, I have been interested in the interface between medicine and science. I have been increasingly impressed by the need to improve our understanding of the mechanisms responsible for so many blinding conditions. Scientific research into the basic mechanisms of ocular pathophysiology will ultimately provide valuable insights into eye disease and provide opportunities for cures that target the mechanisms of disease and which possess far fewer negative consequences. My goals are to lead clinically relevant basic science investigations which can be used to effectively and safely treat corneal diseases in general and neurotrophic keratitis in particular.”
