Kelsie Avants, DO is Program Director of the Pediatrics residency program and an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics. She completed her residency training at UIC and then served as Chief Resident for the Pediatrics residency program. She supervises residents in the pediatrics and Internal Medicine clinics, General Pediatrics wards, Internal Medicine wards, and the Newborn Nursery. She enjoys working with medical students in her role as a College of Medicine Physician House Advisor and a faculty tutor in the Doctoring and Clinical Skills course. In addition to medical education, Dr. Avants has interests in preventative health and chronic disease management for underserved populations, global health, community public health and advocacy, and refugee and immigrant health.
