About

Clinical interest:
Dr. Shuja sees patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions, and he has special expertise in diseases of the esophagus (swallowing difficulty), stomach (acid reflux, peptic ulcers) and colon (IBD, polyps, cancer), and in the evaluation of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. In addition, Dr. Shuja has keen interest in educating future physicians.

Research interest:
Dr. Shuja is a clinical researcher. The primary research interests of Dr. Shuja include patient-centered outcomes and policy outcomes related to endoscopic interventions for patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, chronic liver disease and colon cancer screening. He is also interested in studying effectiveness and doing comparative analysis of different quality indicators used in screening colonoscopies.
