About
Dr. Morrissey is a postdoctoral research fellow with Dr. Orly Lazarov in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology. Dr. Morrissey received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2022 at UIC, co-advised by Dr. Alex Leow in the Computational Neuroimaging and Connected Technologies (CoNeCT) Lab and Dr. Orly Lazarov. His research interests include computational neuroscience, connectomics, spatial transcriptomics, and neurobiology of memory. His current research projects use in vivo calcium imaging data to study how memory engram neurons are affected in Alzheimer's disease transgenic mice. Additionally, he is interested in understanding how adult hippocampal neurogenesis may play a role in memory formation and rescuing cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease.
