About

Dr. Huynh holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her research is dedicated to developing and implementing theory-based behavior change interventions aimed at fostering physical activity in individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities. During her doctoral studies, she focused on investigating the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a theory-based behavior change intervention, delivered remotely, to encourage physical activity among individuals newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Currently, she is interested in two primary areas: (1) examining the mechanisms underlying the change in physical activity behavior facilitated by the intervention, using theory-based behavioral constructs, and (2) evaluating the intervention's effects on enhancing physical activity levels, improving health outcomes, managing comorbid conditions, and augmenting quality of life among individuals newly diagnosed with MS.

Research Project:

Pilot Trial: Lifestyle Physical Activity Intervention for Persons Newly Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (Motl: PI, Huynh: Co-I). This study examines the preliminary efficacy of a behavior change intervention on physical activity levels, MS symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and anxiety, and health-related quality of life among persons newly diagnosed with MS.
