Dr. Eleonora Forte is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Nephrology at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and serves as Director of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Biobank. She earned her PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Perugia, followed by postdoctoral training at Duke University and Northwestern University. Previously, she was a Research Assistant Professor in Surgery - Organ Transplantation and Director of Immunoproteomics at the Proteomics Center of Excellence at Northwestern University.
Dr. Forte’s research combines expertise in top-down proteomics, molecular biology, immunology, and virology to address critical issues in kidney health and transplantation. Her work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving transplant rejection and kidney diseases, such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), and identifying biomarkers to improve early detection, diagnostics, and treatment strategies. As Director of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Biobank, she oversees the processing and storage of biospecimens to support innovative translational research and improve patient outcomes.
