Why I chose UIC: I chose UIC for its strong clinical, academic, and research background. The GI program here offers comprehensive exposure to all the various aspects of GI including but not limited to general GI, hepatology, transplant hepatology, IBD, pancreatobiliary, therapeutic endoscopy, motility, high-risk GI, small bowel transplant, clinical and translational research. The training is offered at both UIC and VA Hospitals which provides a wide and diverse clinical experience. Our faculty is super friendly, approachable, collegial, and supportive. Moreover, Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the nation, and is known for its history, culture, food, diversity, parks, museums, and a great city to live in.
