Dr. Shikha Jain named the Physician Leader of the Year by the Illinois State Medical Society
The Illinois State Medical Society awarded Dr. Shikha Jain with its 2024 Physician Leader of the Year Award.
The society presents the award each year to an Illinois physician who shows an extraordinary willingness to go above and beyond to contribute through leadership, education, and service to the public. Dr. Jain received the award April 7.
Dr. Jain is a hematologist and oncologist at the University of Illinois Cancer Center, and a tenured associate professor at the UIC Department of Medicine Division of Hematology and Oncology. As a physician, she specializes in treating patients with various gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors. Her UI Health leadership roles include GI Oncology IPU Lead and Associate Director of Oncology Communication and Digital Innovation.
Externally, Dr. Jain serves as an executive with numerous action and advocacy organizations, including IMPACT and Women in Medicine. She also is a consulting medical editor for Healio’s Women in Oncology and the host of the podcast “Oncology Overdrive.”
Founded in 1840, the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) is a nonprofit, membership organization of physicians, medical graduates completing residency and fellowship programs, and medical school students that works to improve the practice of medicine in Illinois.
