About
Dr. Mameledzija, Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to the residency program. He completed his medical education at the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned his Master of Business Administration with a major in Social Enterprise. His undergraduate studies were completed at Lake Forest College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Spanish, with honors for his thesis on "Access to Healthcare of Hispanic Immigrants in the Greater Chicago Area: A Documentary."
His professional journey includes a residency in Emergency Medicine at UIC, where he served as Chief Resident- Little Company of Mary in AY22/23.
Dr. Mameledzija has been involved in various research projects, including his role as a co-investigator on a study titled "Standardizing Transitions of Care in the Emergency Department," and a co-investigator on research examining the effects of an impending hospital closure on the community and nearby academic emergency departments. He has published several notable works, including an article on COVID-19 misinformation and its impact on public perception. He has also contributed to the "WestJEM" with a paper on hypotension unresponsive to fluid resuscitation.
Dr. Mameledzija was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2019. His achievements include being named the Capital One COSIDA Men’s Soccer National Academic All-American of the Year in 2013 and receiving the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship in 2014.
