7th Annual GEMS Research Symposium
Friday, October 13th, 2023
We would like to welcome the UIC research community to our 7th annual GEMS Research Symposium, which will take place entirely in-person at the Student Center West (SCW) on Friday, October 13th, 2023. Originally conceived in 2016, the GEMS Research Symposium is an entirely student-driven initiative, offering a chance to showcase the research of graduate students in the GEMS (Graduate Education in bioMedical Sciences) program, as well as students in UIC’s biomedical research community.

The GEMS Research Symposium begins October 13, 2023 at 9:30AM. Registration starts at 8:30 AM.

• 9:45 – 11:00 AM: Student Short Talks Session 1
• 11:00 – 11:30 AM: Student Lightning Talks Session 1
• 11:30 – 1:00 PM: Lunch & Poster Session/Viewing
• 1:00 – 1:45 PM: GEMS Alumni Panel and Q&A Session
• 1:45 – 3:00 PM: Student Short Talks Session 2
• 3:00 – 3:45 PM: Student Lightning Talks Session 2
• 3:30 – 3:45 PM : Coffee Break
• 3:45 – 4:45 PM: Keynote address: Dr. Roshni Rao, PhD, Executive Director of PHutures at John Hopkins

The Abstract Book for the 7th GEMS Research Symposium will be made available online soon! It will also be accessible via QR code in the printed out Event Schedule sheet you receive upon registering on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM.
