Accessibility

UIC and the College of Medicine believe that individuals with disabilities are valuable assets to the university community.  Our goal is to create an environment where all students, faculty, staff and visitors can fully engage in COM programs, services and activities.  The COM works closely with both the UIC Disability Resource Center and the UIC Office of Access and Equity to identify and eliminate barriers and obstacles that may exist.

Faculty and staff who require accommodations should first reach out to the UIC Office of Access and Equity to begin the process and gather information.

The College of Medicine is fortunate to have a staff member from the Disability Resource Center embedded in our college and dedicated to providing assistance for all COM students.  Students accepted or enrolled in any of the programs within the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago, Rockford or Peoria campuses may utilize this resource.  Due to the complex and unique nature of the medical school curriculum, DRC’s process for approving and implementing accommodations in UIC’s College of Medicine varies slightly from the process in most other colleges. To understand the standards, processes, and practical approaches that the DRC uses to best support our future students with disabilities please visit the Disability Resource Center.
