Dr. Heiferman is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and an Associate Residency Program Director at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at UIC. He is also a staff physician at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. He received his BA from Northwestern University where he majored in Biological Science with a concentration in Neurobiology. He received his MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Following an internship in medicine at University of Chicago – NorthShore, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University. He completed a clinical fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at UIC and a second fellowship in ocular oncology at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University. Dr. Heiferman is a vitreoretinal surgeon and ocular oncologist with interests in translational cancer research, retinal imaging, and medical education.
