Dr. Cao joined the Department in September 2011 as a member of the research faculty. He is the Principal investigator of a National Eye Institute research grant, Rod-cone Interactions in Mesopic Vision (R01EY1019651). Dr. Cao joined UIC from the University of Chicago, where he earned a PhD in Biopsychology and served on U of C’s ophthalmology faculty. Dr. Cao’s research focuses on finding what the neural mechanisms are that mediate visual processing, and how retinal diseases affect visual functions.
