Fighting Cancer

So alone was I that
I dared a thought to fall.
But my feet stayed taut
and I remain standing tall.
Through all my successful
and misopportune endeavors,
I have persevered: only to
fall at the hands that held
me through it all.
Wounds of sorts jabbed,
contently, as I bled until
even my marrow ran dry.
And left me to view a
shell of a self of a man.
Yet here I still am
remain, endure, persist.
For far more courageous
is it to suffer than to die.
So alone was I that
I dared a thought to fall.
But my feet stayed taut
and I remain standing tall.
