45-year-old in ICU with Crohn’s.

Hyptensive in the OR, starved in his brain.

Vented for a month, he doesn’t respond to voice,

but winces when I touch his belly.

“Essentially unchanged” ends my note.

His wife, here every day

for hours by his side, observes:

“I think he likes the TV on.”

She says she sees improvement.
