I grew up in East Lansing, MI and went to college at University of Michigan. In Ann Arbor (the best city ever, closely followed by Chicago), I majored in Sociology and discovered my passion for thinking and talking about social inequities, especially health related ones. I spent a year post-grad volunteering through AmeriCorps in Philadelphia, helping to enroll low-income patients in Medicaid and Obamacare at a safety net clinic. After that year, I knew I wanted to practice medicine in a similar setting, increasing access to primary care in historically marginalized communities. I went to medical school back in Michigan where I helped to start my school’s Medical Students for Choice chapter. UIC-FM had the social justice focus I was hoping to get alongside my FM training and I couldn’t be more excited to be here! Outside of the hospital you’ll find me eating, baking, riding my bike, admiring the dogs at Chicago’s many dog parks, and doing crossword puzzles with my fiance, Jesse!
