Service to Community

I grew up in East Lansing, MI and went to college at University of Michigan. In Ann Arbor, I majored in Sociology and discovered my passion for thinking and talking about social inequities, especially health related ones. I spent a year post-grad volunteering through AmeriCorps in Philadelphia, helping to enroll low-income patients in Medicaid and Obamacare at a safety net clinic. After that year, I knew I wanted to practice medicine in a similar setting, increasing access to primary care in historically marginalized communities. I went to medical school back in Michigan where I helped to start my school’s Medical Students for Choice chapter. UIC-FM had the social justice focus I was hoping to get alongside my FM training and I couldn’t be more excited to be here! Outside of the hospital you’ll find me eating, baking, riding my bike, hanging with my dog, and doing crossword puzzles with my husband, Jesse!
