Continuing a Legacy of Leadership

The Department of Medical Education (DME) at the University of Illinois College of Medicine has been a pioneering force in health professions education since its establishment in 1959 by Dr. George Miller. Over the decades, DME has cultivated a global community of alumni who are leaders and innovators in the field. We take immense pride in your achievements and invite you to further our collective impact.

Text reads Be A Part of our legacy and features a graphic of two hands holding a red heart, with one wearing medical gloves.

To commemorate the Department of Medical Education’s 60th anniversary in 2019, we launched the Georges Bordage Lecture Fund—a lasting initiative that brings prominent keynote speakers to our annual summer conference, enriching the academic experience for MHPE students and alumni alike.

Supporters may also contribute to the DME General Fund, which continues to fuel our department’s innovative programs, research, and educational mission.

We welcome gifts of any amount, with options for both single and recurring donations. Donors will be recognized annually at our summer conference and the AAMC booth. Special acknowledgments are given as lifetime contributions reach the following levels, inspired by Miller’s Pyramid:

  • “Knows” – $500 to $999
  • “Knows How” – $1,000 to $4,999
  • “Shows How” – $5,000 to $9,999
  • “Does” – $10,000 and above

Your generosity empowers DME to continue its tradition of excellence and innovation in health professions education. Together, we can shape the future of medical education and improve patient care worldwide.
