The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences held its annual Alumni Resident Day on Friday June 21. This year, presentations were held in the College of Medicine Student Learning Center, followed by an evening reception at the Chicago Club to honor our graduating residents.

UIC was proud to host many distinguished speakers during the didactic session. Tamara Fountain, MD, Director of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Rush Medical College, gave The Morton F. Goldberg, MD, FACS Lecture. The Howard Tessler, MD Lecture was delivered by Debra Goldstein, MD, Director of Uveitis at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University.

This year, the inaugural Mark W. Lunde, MD Memorial Lecture was established, honoring the late Dr. Lunde’s many years of dedication to ophthalmologic care, student mentorship, and the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Quan V. Hoang, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University and a former resident under Dr. Lunde, gave the inaugural lecture. Many of Dr. Lunde’s family members attended the memorial lecture and day’s events.
