About
Dr. Peterson’s current research explores clinical and community-based solutions to improve HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening rates in low-resource settings. Domestically, this includes two current studies set in UIC’s Federally Qualified Health Center clinics: a quality improvement project to increase HPV vaccination rates for adolescents and a mixed-methods pilot study to identify social influences on parents’ hesitancy to seek HPV vaccination for their children and on women to participating in cervical cancer screening. Globally, this includes two studies set in French-speaking West Africa: Evaluating the Implementation Outcomes of the Roll Out of a Comprehensive Cervical Cancer Screen and Treat Program in Two Rural Senegal Regions, and Assessing the acceptance and political viability of a gender-neutral HPV vaccine program among multi-level stakeholders in French speaking West Africa.
