About

Dr. Linda Humaidan-Zayed has a PhD in Public Health with a focus on Community Health Research. Her work has revolved around public health education, health equity and prevention work, and domestic violence advocacy related to the Arab population. Dr. Humaidan-Zayed has served as a public health educator for years, focusing on addressing health disparities and promoting cultural sensitivity through community engagement, coaching, and peer mentorship. Currently, her work revolves around gender-based violence research and women's health regarding the Arab American population. She is a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor with American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP) and a health and policy advocate with Every Woman Global Coalition (a gender-based violence and women's rights coalition). She is also an Associate Director of Health Education Outreach for TILE- Training Institute for Learning Excellence, (a Canadian nonprofit organization that promotes post-secondary education to provide people with better opportunities). In addition to her research and advocacy work, Dr. Humaidan-Zayed is currently a Senior Research Specialist at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Center for Global Health where she serves as an academic and research mentor for Global Medicine students to support health equity-based scholarship and career development. She also currently serves as a Community-Based Participatory Research and Social Justice Mentee at Stanford Muslim Mental Health & Islamic Psychology Lab.
