Emilie received her MA in Sociology from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017, and has completed her coursework and comp exams toward her doctorate. Emilie earned a Certification in Women’s Health Research in 2017, and worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Laura Hirshfield in the College of Medicine on multiple interdisciplinary, applied-research projects. For the past three years, Emilie has worked with various nonprofits in Texas, whose missions focus on community health and community building, as a research and evaluation lead for programs and large, city-wide community-building research projects. Emilie is passionate about applied-research that seeks to aid health experiences and outcomes of historically oppressed groups, especially around birthing and the politics of motherhood. Emilie is a mixed-methods researcher with experience in survey data, third party data set analysis, in-depth interviews, and focus groups; Emilie is fluent in Spanish and can collect and analyze qualitative data in both languages.
