Katie Garland, MPH, first joined the CRWG staff in 2017 and is currently CRWG Senior Research Specialist Affiliate. During her tenure with CRWG, she managed multiple maternal health projects, including the evaluation of a severe maternal morbidity review initiative in Illinois obstetric hospitals and implementation of a computerized adaptive screening tool for mental health during routine prenatal care. She also coordinated the Illinois Maternal Health Task Force, helped develop the Illinois Maternal Health Strategic Plan, and conducted a maternal health training needs assessment of home visitors in Illinois. As a health services researcher with experience in qualitative research and program implementation and evaluation, Katie’s research interests include maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, and perinatal mental health. Katie is currently a Research Analyst at Mathematica. Katie received her MPH in Community Health Sciences with a concentration in Maternal Child Health from University of Illinois Chicago in 2016 and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Florida in 2014.
