About
Dr. Eisenlohr-Moul is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UIC, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychology. She is a licensed clinical psychologist, specialized in the pathophysiology, assessment, and treatment of hormone-related psychiatric disorders, particularly premenstrual disorders. Her research focuses on mechanistic randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and longitudinal studies that explore how ovarian hormones affect emotions, cognitive functions, and behaviors in individuals with neurobehavioral hormone sensitivities. Her NIMH-funded trials investigate how natural fluctuations in neuroactive steroids, as opposed to exogenous stabilization, impact mechanisms of suicide risk during the perimenstrual phase of the menstrual cycle. Dr. Eisenlohr-Moul is also involved in NIH collaborations studying the menstrual cycle's role in adolescent suicidality, alcohol use, borderline personality disorder, autism, and ADHD. Her scientific contributions and advocacy have established her as an international expert in premenstrual dysphoric disorder and the cyclical exacerbation of psychiatric disorders. With her dual expertise in clinical science and evidence-based care, Dr. Eisenlohr-Moul is well-suited to addressing the needs of MSTP students.
