About

Dr. El Helou completed her Doctor of Medicine at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon, followed by extensive training and academic work at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). She completed her OBGYN residency at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC - class of 2025), where she has distinguished herself as a clinician, researcher, and outstanding resident educator.

Dr. El Helou scholarly contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications on preeclampsia, preterm birth, and maternal-fetal health, as well as presentations at national and international meetings such as Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM), Society of Reproductive Investigation (SRI), and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). Her research has focused on identifying genetic contributors to recurrent pregnancy loss, care of peri-viable pregnancies, the pathophysiology of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and innovative biomarkers for maternal and neonatal outcomes.

In addition to her research excellence, Dr. El Helou has demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching and mentorship, actively guiding medical students and junior residents through both clinical and didactic learning. She brings to our faculty not only a passion for advancing women’s health but also multicultural influence, which enriches her ability to connect with diverse patient populations. In addition to clinical medicine, Dr. El Helou is interested in advancing gynecologic ultrasound in our department.
