Dr. Chichura earned her Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University, where she also gained valuable research experience as a Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP) scholar at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington, DC, within the Surgery Branch of the National Cancer Institute. She went on to earn her MD from Georgetown University and completed her residency in OBGYN at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Driven by a passion for surgery, Dr. Chichura pursued a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at NorthShore & the University of Chicago. Following her fellowship, she continued to practice Breast Surgical Oncology and Benign Gynecology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Dr. Chichura is a certified menopause practitioner through the North American Menopause Society and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society for Surgical Oncology (SSO), American Society of Breast Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and the North American Menopause Society.
An outstanding educator, Dr. Chichura has received multiple teaching awards, including the Excellence in Teaching award from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Her dedication to research has been recognized by the Northeast Ohio Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic Women's Health Institute, where she received the Best Resident Oral Presentation award. With more than 23 peer-reviewed publications and 31 abstracts, Dr. Chichura has demonstrated significant expertise in cancer biology, particularly in breast neoplasms.
At UIC, Dr. Chichura will serve as the Director of the OBGYN Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Program within the Department of OBGYN. In this leadership role, she will foster collaboration between the Department of OBGYN and the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, integrating these areas into the Hereditary Cancer Program at UI Health, which is part of the Oncology Service Line. Her work will strengthen partnerships across the Department of Surgery, Department of OBGYN, and the Cancer Center.
