Dr. Jonathan Samet Visits UI COM for Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series
In September, Dr. Jonathan Samet joined UI COM for the Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series. In a talk entitled "How Do We Know What We Know? Integrating Evidence for Action," Dr. Samet discussed the need and precedent for scientific and evidenced-based approaches to exploring our current health landscape. Dr. Samet is a pulmonary physician, epidemiologist, professor, and past dean of the Colorado School of Public Health.
Prior to delivering his lecture, Dr. Samet met with a group of students for a Q&A session, discussing his lifelong dedication to research on the effects of smoking and sharing his experiences navigating the pandemic through the lens of epidemiology.
The Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series was launched in the fall of 2022 in order to highlight research topics that integrate efforts by multidisciplinary teams. The series is designed to expose all members of the UI COM community to leading-edge science and researchers that explore the depth and breadth of scientific knowledge and technical expertise.
